Ancient Treasures That Give Us Modern Hope!
Welcome, Faith Force Scripture Treasure Hunters! Today, we’re discovering how the ancient stories written long ago are actually treasure chests full of hope and encouragement for us today, as shared in Romans 15:4.
Verse Of The Day:
"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide, we may have hope." (Romans 15:4)
Have you ever found an old treasure map or ancient book and wondered what secrets it might hold? God tells us that everything written in the Bible long ago is like a treasure chest for us today!
“Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us” – all those Old Testament stories about Abraham, Moses, David, and others weren’t just history lessons. They were written specifically to teach us how to live today! When we read about how David faced Goliath or how Moses led God’s people through the wilderness, we’re learning lessons for our own challenges.
These ancient stories give us two incredible gifts: “endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide.” When we see how Bible heroes kept going through hard times, it teaches us endurance. When we see how God helped them, it encourages us. The result? “We may have hope!” Every old Bible story is actually a hope-builder for modern kids!
Hope and Encouragement Scroll Collection:
Create ancient-looking scrolls using brown paper bags or white paper “aged” with tea! Write down Bible stories that give you hope and encouragement – like “David and Goliath teaches me to be brave” or “Noah’s ark shows God keeps His promises.” Roll each scroll up and tie it with ribbon. Store your scrolls in a special box labeled “Ancient Treasures for Modern Hope.” When you face challenges, unroll a scroll and remember that these ancient stories were written to teach you endurance and give you hope today!

Dear God, thank You that everything written in the past was written to teach us! Help us remember that ancient Bible stories are treasure chests full of endurance and encouragement for our modern lives. When we read about Your people long ago, fill our hearts with hope knowing You help us the same way today. Thank You for ancient treasures that give us modern hope! Amen.
