Mission Briefing
Fight the Good Fight!
Did you know that living a faith-filled life is described in the Bible as a FIGHT? Not a fight with fists – but a battle of courage, truth, and holding on tight to God’s promises even when it’s hard! This mission explores 1 Timothy 6:12.
What Does 1 Timothy 6:12 Mean?
Paul is writing to his young friend Timothy, encouraging him to keep going even when faith gets difficult. “The good fight” means choosing to do right, stay true to God, and not give up – even when the world pulls in a different direction. “Take hold of eternal life” means grabbing onto God’s gift of forever life with both hands and never letting go. It’s a reminder that what God promises is worth every battle!
Hero Challenge
Think of one area where your faith feels like a fight – maybe patience, forgiveness, or speaking up for what’s right. This week, pray about that struggle every morning and ask God to help you “fight the good fight” in that area. Notice how He helps you!
Did You Know?
Timothy was a young man – probably a teenager when Paul first started mentoring him! Paul believed that young people could be mighty faith warriors. That means YOU are included in this call to fight the good fight, no matter your age.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What is something good you want to hold onto really tight, just like holding onto God’s promises?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
What does it mean to “fight” for your faith without using fists? What does that kind of fighting look like?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul says to “take hold” of eternal life – like it’s something you have to actively grab. What do you think that looks like in your everyday choices and attitude?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, help me to fight the good fight every single day. When I feel like giving up on doing what's right, remind me of Your promises and give me strength to hold on. I want to live for You! Amen.
