Love First: Loving Others Because God Loved Us
Verse Of The Day:
"We love because he first loved us." (1 John 4:19)
Imagine a big, warm hug from someone who loves you so much! That’s what God’s love feels like—He loved us first, even before we knew Him. In 1 John 4:19, we learn that the reason we can love others is because God showed us what love is by loving us first.
God’s love for us is the most amazing gift, and it’s because of that love that we know how to love others. Just like how we want to share a tasty treat with a friend, we should want to share God’s love with the people around us. His love never runs out—it’s big enough for everyone!
When we feel God’s love, it fills our hearts and gives us the ability to be kind, forgiving, and caring toward others. We can love because we know that God loves us, and His love is always with us, no matter what.
Love Chain Craft:
Create a “Love Chain” at home! Use colorful paper strips to make a chain. On each strip, write down ways you can show love to others, like “Share,” “Forgive,” “Be kind,” or “Help.” Connect the strips to make a long chain, and hang it somewhere to remind you that we love because God loved us first. Each time you show love, add a new link to your chain. This craft helps kids understand that their ability to love comes from God’s love for them.

Dear God, thank You for loving us first. Help us to love others the way You love us—freely, kindly, and without holding back. Teach us to share Your love with our friends and family every day, and remind us that Your love never runs out. Amen.
